She needed a way to lengthen her muscles and help reverse the physical strain that running caused. She immediately fell in love with what yoga had to offer, discontinued running, and started practicing yoga wholeheartedly. Her love for yoga grew and she wanted to dive deeper by getting certified to teach. = She completed her 200 hour teacher training on the big island of Hawaii through Yogaworks led by Alicia Cheung and Oliver Reinsch. Michelle’s teaching style consists of a blend of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. Her focus is on finding the structural integrity of each posture and then from there, exploring depth. She is also currently completing her 100 hour prenatal yoga teacher training through Bliss Baby Yoga based out of Australia. Michelle’s personal practice first started off very physical because she loved the challenge of learning new and difficult poses, but soon she realized her love for the calmer side of the physical practice as well. In her classes, she values being able to bring in different aspects of yoga like pranayama, meditation, intention setting, and observing the subtle and energetic body. Michelle found that she could incorporate subtle body awareness and energetic practices through the physical asana practice. Michelle teaches vinyasa flow style classes as well as slower paced classes that are more focused on flexibility, longer holds, and working with the breath while being in poses to get a deeper opening while creating that mind-body connection and overall awareness. She also is a certified Reiki 2 healer. She studied and completed her Usui Shiki Ryoho training and certification under Shilah Sarkissian and Kimi Dawn who make up the National Institute For The Healing Arts.
